The Colgate University Department of Athletics announced Thursday that Nicci Hays Fort has resigned from her position as head women’s basketball coach.
“We would like to thank Nicci for her five years of service as head coach,” said Colgate Vice President and Director of Athletics Victoria M. Chun ’91 MA’94. “We wish her well and thank her for all she has contributed to the women’s basketball program, to the university, and to the community.”
In five seasons as head coach of the Raiders, Hays Fort compiled an overall record of 42-110 with a Patriot League mark of 23-59. Her teams hosted Patriot League Tournament first-round games in two seasons and reached the league semifinals in 2013 after upsetting Army West Point in the quarterfinals on the road.
Hays Fort had four student-athletes earn All-Patriot League honors during her tenure, including Josie Stockill’s selection to the second team this year. She also coached a pair of Patriot League All-Rookie Team selections.
A national search for her successor begins immediately.
