Former Canisius College graduate assistant Logan Fletcher has been named assistant coach and former Laker guard Stephanie Fisher will serve as junior varsity coach for the Lake Superior State women’s basketball program, LSSU head coach Kristen Rogers announced today.
Fletcher spent two seasons at Canisius, where he earned a master’s degree in sport administration and worked under women’s basketball head coach Terry Zeh. He has a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from SUNY-Buffalo.
“Logan comes to us from a well-respected program at Canisius where he had the opportunity to learn and develop under Terry Zeh,” Rogers said. “He was given a lot of freedom and was able to work with many different aspects of the program, which should help him step in and contribute immediately. Logan shares my vision of developing successful student-athletes on and off the floor in a family environment and is committed to helping our players grow every day. I’m looking forward to the passion, commitment and experience that he will bring to our program. He has a great work ethic, which is the foundation of what we are trying to build our program around here at LSSU, and he will be a great role model for our student-athletes.”
Fletcher’s off-court responsibilities at Canisius included scheduling, travel arrangements, budget management, film exchange, marketing and running conditioning programs. He also served as the Griff’s summer camp coordinator.
During two seasons as an assistant coach at SUNY-Buffalo, Fletcher worked under 2012 SUNYAC Coach of the Year Sue Roarke, who set a school record for single-season wins in 2011-12. He was the director of basketball operations at Herkimer Community College from September, 2007, through May, 2010.
Fisher ’15 (Johannesburg, Mich.) was a two-year starter for LSSU, averaging 11.7 points per game in 2013-14 and 10.7 ppg this season. She ranks 10th on the Lakers career three-pointers list with 99. She will assemble a roster of new players to compete in a 10-game junior varsity schedule in 2015-16 and serve as a volunteer assistant with the varsity squad.
