Northern Illinois University women’s basketball coach Kathi Bennett has resigned, NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier announced Wednesday.

Bennett compiled a record of 57-93 in five seasons at NIU.

Frazier said a national search for a new head women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.

“We thank Coach Bennett for her years of dedication to NIU and wish her the best in the future,” Frazier said. “We will work diligently and quickly to find the best person and coach to lead the Huskie women’s basketball program going forward.”

The Huskies posted a 12-17 record in 2014-15.
