A few things that I’ve heard to kick-off the month of April…
• I have heard that former Southern Cal and WNBA standout Cynthia Cooper is involved with the vacant job at USC. This past season was her first at the head coach at Texas Southern where she led her squad to a 20-12 record and an appearance in the WNIT. Prior to TSU, she was the head coach at UNC-Wilmington (42-22) and Prairie View (86-72). She was inducted to the basketball Hall of Fame in 2010 for her remarkable college and professional career.
• South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley is no longer a candidate at Ohio State. She did have some contact with the Buckeye’s this past weekend, but has elected not to pursue the job any further. She is 264-146 in her 12-seasons at South Carolina.
• It sounds like former Ole Miss assistants Michael and Kenya Landers are both involved with the vacancy at Tallahassee Community College. The Landers’ were co-head coaches at Trinity Valley Community College (TX) where they won a National Championship in 2012 before joining the Ole Miss staff last spring. They were both dismissed in October in the wake of allegations of impermissible recruiting contacts and academic misconduct.
