After serving nearly a quarter of a century as head coach of the Cal State Dominguez Hills women’s basketball program, Van Girard has announced his retirement. Girard, the third women’s basketball coach at CSUDH, compiled an overall record of 302-350 (.463) in 24 seasons in Carson, leading the Toros to 10 CCAA Tournament and five NCAA Tournament appearances. The latest NCAA tournament appearance came in 2008-09, which also marked the final of three CCAA Titles.
A nation-wide search for Girard’s replacement will begin immediately.
