Christopher Newport University head women’s basketball coach Bill Broderick announced the hiring of Kristin Kidd as assistant women’s basketball coach.
Kidd was the youngest coach in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region X, helping the Catawba Valley squad to an 18-10 overall mark in 2011-12. She attended the WBCA "So You Want to be a Coach" in April 2011 and was a camp director at the University of Alabama-Huntsville in June 2011.
She will bring Division I and Division II playing experience to her role at Christopher Newport, starting for the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College from 2006-08 before transferring to Concord University in Athens, West Virginia from 2008-11. She was co-captain for the Mountain Lions, helping the squad to a 17-win season in her senior year, the third most wins in school history. She was one of only two players to start every game for Concord, scoring 6.2 points and grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game.
