WC’s Duran resigns

Washington College head women’s basketball coach Megan Duran has resigned from her position after five seasons, Director of Athletics Dr. Bryan Matthews announced today.

Duran leaves Washington College after compiling a record of 59-66. The Shorewomen finished with double-digit win totals in four of her five seasons after reaching that mark just once in the five years prior to her arrival. During the 2011-12 season, the Shorewomen equalled their school record for wins in a season by going 16-9 and won 11 Centennial Conference games for the first time ever. Duran coached three players to a total of four All-Centennial Conference awards while at the school.

"We are grateful for the job that Coach Duran has done in rebuilding the women’s basketball program," Matthews stated. "Through her significant efforts, we have the foundation for a successful and competitive program and an excellent group of student-athletes. We appreciate all that Coach Duran has done for the team and the Athletic Department."

A national search for Duran’s successor will begin immediately.
