Highland CC head coach B.J. Smith was arrested by federal officials last week for his role in a multi-state car theft conspiracy. According to the FBI’s website, Smith and 20 others are "alleged to have utilized several different schemes to steal and misappropriate vehicles, commit bank fraud in order to obtain vehicles, and obtain insurance proceeds by staging accidents and filing false theft reports."

Smith is 58-10 in his two season at HCC. The athletic department has refused to comment on the situation.
