Salt Lake CC names assistant coach

The SLCC Women’s Basketball team announced the hiring of new Assistant Coach Elisha Harris. Harris comes to SLCC from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO where she was an assistant coach for one season.

Harris began her collegiate playing career at USU-Eastern where she was selected as a First Team All-Region 18 player in each of her two seasons with the Golden Eagles. She moved on to compete and study at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (UAA) and was a member of the Seawolves’ NCAA Division II Final Four teams in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

Harris joined the UAA coaching staff and in two years helped coach the Seawolves to a 57-12 overall record and the team’s first appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight since her time as a player for UAA.

She completed her athletic eligibility in 2010 by becoming the first ever UAA javelin thrower to qualify for the NCAA Track and Field Championships. Harris went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in sociology in 2010.

A native of West Jordan, UT, Harris graduated from West Jordan High School in 2005. She will work with SLCC Head Coach Betsy Specketer who will begin her 18th season at the helm of Bruin Women’s Basketball this coming fall.
