Tiffany Young Klockziem has resigned as Head Coach of the Bethany Lutheran College Women’s Basketball team.
"I have chosen to resign as the Bethany Head Women’s Basketball Coach in order to devote more time to my three children’s activities that they are now beginning and to take on more teaching challenges at Bethany as I near completion of my PhD," said Young Klockziem.
In 11 seasons, Young Klockziem, a Bethany alum, compiled a 115-163 record and led the program through the transition from junior college to NCAA Division III. During this time, the Vikings placed fourth at the National Christian College Athletic Association Division I National Tournament in 2007, was Region XII runner-up in National Junior College Athletic Association Division II in 2003-04, and reached the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference postseason tournament twice (2007, 2012).
"My greatest challenge was the transition from NJCAA Division II to NCAA Division III," said Young Klockziem. "I consider it an honor to have been chosen to lead the Bethany women’s basketball team through this difficult transition and I am very confident in the program’s future and in the returning athletes."
"On behalf of the Bethany community, I would like to thank Tiffany Young Klockziem for the leadership and commitment she has provided as the coach for our women’s basketball team the past 11 seasons," said Bethany Director of Athletics Don Westphal. "Tiffany’s teams were known for their hard work and talent both on and off the court, but beyond that, her integrity and devotion to the mission of Bethany was always evident through her players. We know that she will continue to be a benefit to current and future student-athletes at Bethany by her work in the classroom and her support of Viking athletics at games."
"I want to thank the supportive fans, loyal assistants, hard-working managers, and all the wonderful parents and grandparents who entrusted me with these amazing young ladies, and especially, I want to thank the players," said Young Klockziem. "Having played three sports at Bethany, served as an assistant coach in three sports, and as head basketball coach the last 11 years, I take with me a heart filled with memories. Now it is the time for the next chapter."
