Finger Lakes Community College announced on Saturday that they have hired Gabe Coffey as the new Women’s Basketball Coach. Coffey, who was an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season, will start the duties of head coach immediately in preparation for her first season next school year.
Coffey has had experience on the sideline prior to arriving at Finger Lakes. Most recently she was with the University of Rochester, where she severed as an assistant coach for the Yellowjackets. Prior to Rochester, she was the head coach at Hudson Valley Community College. While with the Vikings, Coffey was named Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Coach of the Year, as well as the Paul Bishop Coach of the Year Award, honoring the top coach in the HVCC Athletic Department.
Coffey was an All-SUNYAC player while at Oneonta, where she graduated magna cum laude, studying psychology. She completed her Masters in Sports Psychology at Ithaca College. She served as a graduate assistant coach for the Bombers as well.
