Fulton returns to to PSU Hazleton

The Penn State Hazleton athletic department has announced the hiring of Cy Fulton as the head women’s basketball coach for the Nittany Lions. Fulton, who coached the women’s team from 2010-2013, returns to the staff after a one year hiatus.

Fulton brings a strong background in basketball and an advanced knowledge of the collegiate game with him to the Hazleton campus. Prior to his first stint at Penn State, Fulton served as an assistant coach for the Bloomsburg University women’s basketball program from 2007-2010. Fulton served as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Kean University in Union, NJ from 2005-2007 to begin his career in intercollegiate coaching.

"We are excited to welcome Coach Fulton back to the Penn State Hazleton community," said director of athletics, Ryan Ehrie. "His background and experience will suit our program well, and his knowledge of the system and some of the players currently on the team will allow him to continue building the program he put so much effort into during his previous stint."

Fulton, a former high school teacher in the region, also coached basketball and tennis at the interscholastic level. He served as the girls basketball and tennis coach at Blue Mountain High School after years of serving as a teacher and basketball coach at Bishop Hafey High School in Hazleton, Pa.

Fulton replaces Kevin Kringe, who departed the program prior to the season to pursue other coaching opportunities. Kringe was Fulton’s replacement for the 2013-14 season.
