Directs the operation and activities of the basketball program including, but not limited to scouting, recruiting, organizing, training/coaching and conducting team practices for game competition. Monitors progress of athletes through various training programs. Uses working knowledge of skills to prepare game and practice plans to benefit the growth of the student-athlete. Assists and encourages student-athletes in pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. Oversees the academic progress of the student-athlete in conjunction with the Academic Advisor. Counsels all student-athletes as needed in academic, disciplinary and personal matters. Adheres to established budget guidelines and serves as the programs contact for administrators in regards to budget and rules compliance. Represents UAB in professional, civic, charity and alumni events. Adheres to all institutional conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Reports all known NCAA violations in accordance with institutional, conference and NCAA policies and guidelines.
