South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is actively searching for a head women’s basketball coach to lead the Hardrocker basketball program through the remainder of the NCAA D-II transition period and into the future. Requirements include: bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree highly preferred; significant collegiate assistant coaching experience required, collegiate head coaching experience preferred; significant experience in recruiting collegiate basketball student-athletes required, experience recruiting high academic basketball student-athletes preferred; experience with NCAA rules highly preferred; and experience with fundraising preferred.
Position will be charged with directing the women’s basketball program at the School of Mines. This will include but is not limited to a) developing and supervising an offensive and defensive scheme that is appropriate for the type of student-athlete attracted to the School of Mines; b) coaching, leadership and mentorship of student-athletes; c) development and hiring of coaching staff; d) development and supervision of a weight training program; e) budget development and management; f) development of practice and game plans; g) promote community engagement with team; h) teach up to 1 class per semester; i) and other administrative duties as assigned.
This is an 11-month (July 22 through June 21) benefited position. Salary is competitive for an NCAA D-II transitioning program. The start date will be as soon as possible.
