Flagler College Adds Assistant

Former Bloomsburg University standout Dana Wieller was selected as the assistant women’s basketball coach at Flagler College, effective May 21, head coach Erika Lang-Montgomery announced..

“It is a pleasure to welcome Dana to our Flagler family,” said Lang-Montgomery. “From our first conversation, I had a great feeling for the energy she could bring to our program. She is a tireless worker and has an infectious enthusiasm and a passion for the game.”

Wieller joins the Flagler staff after spending last season (2014-15) as a graduate assistant coach at East Stroudsburg University. She supervised the weight and conditioning training, developed and conducted individual skill and team workouts and was responsible for breaking down game film as well as compiling and maintaining team playbooks and notebooks. Wieller prepared and updated scouting reports for each opponent and also wrote and sent out an alumni newsletter.

“I am very excited to be part of the Flagler staff and thankful for this opportunity,” said Wieller. “As Coach E had mentioned, from the moment we were in contact, I felt great vibes from her. I look forward to the things we will accomplish this season both on and off the court.”

Prior to her stint at East Stroudsburg, she served as the director of basketball operations at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania (2013-14). She helped handle the travel logistics, coordinate practice times and gym usage, and oversaw the daily operations of the women’s basketball program under the supervision of the coaching staff.

Wieller also spent time as a Sixers Live Events intern where she helped develop and create themes or packages.

Wieller, a 5-foot-6 guard, played in 115 games with 112 starts and helped the Huskies to an 88-29 record in her four years in the program. She scored 1,883 points, an average of 16.4 points per game, and made 82% (361-440) of her free throw attempts. Wieller was a three-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selection and helped lead Bloomsburg to a conference title as a senior. She was the PSAC East Division Rookie of the Year in 2009-10.

“Dana learned first-hand as a student-athlete the dedication and commitment necessary to take a program to the next level,” added Lang-Montgomery. “I am thrilled that she will be able to share those experiences with our players as we continue our quest for a Peach Belt championship.”

The Bethlehem, Pennsylvania native graduated from Bloomsburg University with a bachelor’s in mass communications/telecommunications in 2013. She is completing her master’s in sport management at East Stroudsburg this May.
