The Plymouth State University women’s basketball program has a new leader with the announcement of a new head coach for the 2015-16 season.
Allison Flynn has been named the new women’s basketball coach at PSU. A graduate of Norwich University, Flynn spent four years as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Saint Anselm College from 2009-13 and was the head girls varsity basketball coach the last two seasons at Beverly (Mass.) High School. Flynn takes over from Liz Stich, who coached the Panthers the last three seasons.
Flynn has collegiate coaching experience at the Division II and III levels. She started with a two-year stint as assistant women’s basketball coach at her alma mater, Norwich, from 2006-08, and then served one season in a similar role at Saint Michael’s College in 2008-09. After her four years as an assistant at Saint Anselm, Flynn took over in 2013 as head coach at Beverly HS, where she led the team to the Division 1 North Semifinals last season and was named North Eastern Conference and Salem Evening News Coach of the Year.
“We are really excited for Allison to join our team,” said PSU Assistant Athletic Director Courtney O’Clair. “She brings a vast range of knowledge of collegiate basketball with her. I’m confident that she will hit the ground running! We have some challenges ahead of us but we couldn’t be happier that she’s our next women’s basketball coach. We are delighted to welcome Allison to the Plymouth State Athletics family.”
“I want to thank the PSU athletic department for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their family,” said Flynn. “I am looking forward to bring the women’s basketball program back to a competitive level where we can be contenders in the Little East Conference. The team is hungry and we are all very excited for what the future holds. Great things can happen when everyone believes.”
