Zenise Chambers Hired as Assistant Coach at Macalester

Macalester College women’s basketball head coach Katie Kollar has announced that Zenise Chambers will join her staff as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Chambers comes to Macalester after serving two seasons as an assistant coach at Randolph College, an NCAA Division III school in Lynchburg, Va.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Zee joining the staff,” Kollar said. “Zenise has demonstrated over her time at Randolph her ability to help develop student-athletes holistically. Zenise brings a culture of success on and off the court with her and I look forward to the help she will bring to our team in terms of coaching, recruiting and the overall growth of the program.”

While at Randolph, Chambers was involved in practice and game preparation, recruiting, scouting and academic monitoring while also maintaining the team’s social media accounts. This past season, she helped to guide the Wildcats to a 16-7 record, the best mark in the program’s history, and a fifth-place finish in the ODAC standings. Chambers coached two All-ODAC student-athletes in 2021-22, including the ODAC and Region 6 Rookie of the Year.

In addition to her duties at Randolph, Chambers worked as an instructor at Point Guard College, where she mentored and taught basketball skills to 20 players. She also participated in the “So You Want to Be a Coach” program sponsored by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in the spring of 2020.

Chambers was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at Averett University in Danville, Va., where she helped the Cougars post four consecutive 18-9 seasons and earned the team’s Outstanding Service Award three times. She also served as an intern for the women’s basketball team following her final season.

A native of Ashburn, Va., Chambers graduated from Averett with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Medicine and Coaching. She recently completed her Masters of Arts degree in Coaching and Sport Leadership at Randolph.

In addition to her duties with the women’s basketball team, Chambers will serve as an Assistant Facilities Manager for Macalester Athletics.
