Southeastern Louisiana will immediately begin a national search for a new head women’s basketball coach, SLU Director of Athletics Jay Artigues announced on Wednesday.
Yolanda Moore will not return for a third season as head coach of the Lady Lions. During her tenure, Southeastern finished 11-47 overall and 6-30 in Southland Conference play. The 2015-16 team finished 4-25 overall and 3-15 in league games, missing the Southland Tournament for the fourth consecutive season.
“We wish Coach Moore the best in the future and thank her for her service,” Artigues said. “We believe we have everything needed in place at Southeastern to support a winning women’s basketball program. We’re looking for a coach who can help our student-athletes consistently compete for Southland Conference championships and thrive in the classroom and community.”
Artigues also announced that assistant coach Aja Gibson will serve as interim head coach during the search process.
