Miami University head women’s basketball coach Glenn Box has announced the addition of Avery Wright to his staff as an assistant coach.
“I’m extremely grateful to Coach Box for this opportunity and excited to get right to work with the rest of the staff,” said Wright. “Coach Box has proven himself as an outstanding winner on the court, but as I came to know him personally over the years, he’s also a phenomenal person to know which made my decision to work for him so easy. He has built a great culture and winning environment during his stint here so I’m thrilled to be a part of that and help bring more success to the program in any way I can.”
Wright joins Miami after spending the past two seasons as the Assistant AD/Director of Operations for the women’s basketball staff at Xavier. In her time with the Musketeers, Avery oversaw all team and recruiting travel and played a key role in Xavier’s recruiting efforts. She was also in charge of allotment of team gear, camp operations, team scheduling and coordinated the NIL collective efforts.
“Avery brings a wealth of experience to our program which will greatly benefit us,” said Box. “We are delighted and fortunate to have Avery here with us.”
Wright has also spent time as a Championship Assistant with the Big 12 Conference (2023), Graduate Assistant with the Oklahoma State women’s basketball team (2022-23), Athletic Director’s Intern at Texas Tech (2020-21) and a Student Assistant with the South Plains College women’s basketball team (2016-17).
Wright completed her undergraduate degree in 2020 and added a master’s degree in 2021 from Texas Tech.
