Wodrich Resigns as UIndy Women’s Basketball Head Coach

University of Indianapolis Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Young announced Tuesday that Kristin Wodrich is stepping down as the Greyhounds women’s basketball coach. After six seasons at UIndy, Wodrich accepted an assistant coaching position at crosstown Butler University.

“This has been one of the toughest decisions I have had to make in my life,” confided Wodrich. “UIndy is a special place and it’s because of the people. The people I’ve worked with, my staff, and my players are family and always will be.

“I am grateful to (former VP for Intercollegiate Athletics) Sue Willey and Scott Young for the opportunity to lead the Greyhounds and grow as a head coach. They embraced my family as their own, and I appreciate their leadership. I am better for being a Greyhound.”

In her time at UIndy, Wodrich compiled a 76-89 (.461) record, with her win total good for No. 5 in the program’s all-time coaching annals. She coached three 1,000-point scorers in her tenure, guiding the Greyhounds to the GLVC Tournament semifinals in 2017 and later recording 19 wins in the 2019-20 campaign.

“We are grateful to Kristin for all her hard work over the last six years,” Young added. “She came here as a young coach and changed the culture of the program for the better. She has really grown as a head coach in her time here, and Coach Parkinson and the Butler women’s basketball program are gaining a valuable addition.

“This will be a tremendous opportunity for Kristin and her family, and we wish her the best of luck.”

UIndy will begin a national search immediately to fill its open women’s basketball head coaching position.
