It is with great pleasure that Benedictine University announces the appointment of Oliver Wiseman to the position of head women’s basketball coach.
Wiseman arrives at Benedictine after serving as an assistant at NCAA Division II Lindenwood University since 2018. Lindenwood set a program record for wins and received recognition on and off the court as a nationally ranked team in the WBCA as well as owning a top-10 GPA nationally. The team also received a pair of at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament. While at Lindenwood, Wiseman served as the recruiting coordinator, camps coordinator and fundraising coordinator.
“Oliver brings a wide-range of experience and success has followed him wherever he has coached,” said director of athletics Paul Nelson. “He stood out from a very solid pool of candidates and I know he can carry on the recent success of the women’s basketball program. We are excited to welcome him to Benedictine.”
Wiseman owns experience at the NCAA Division III level after assisting at Knox College from 2016-18. During his tenure, Knox appeared in the Midwest Conference Tournament for the first time in 21 years while recording the most wins since 1989-90 and collecting the most conference wins in program history.
Other collegiate coaching stops include stints as an assistant at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, two other NCAA Division II programs.
“I am honored and thankful to be named the head coach at Benedictine,” Wiseman said. “I would like to thank Paul Nelson, the search committee and the entire athletic department staff for giving me this opportunity. It was evident to me throughout the process how special BenU is, and I am excited to work with the amazing people here.”
Off the floor Wiseman served as a member of the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the GLVC as well as serving on the Athletics Council for Inclusive Excellence Taskforce at Lindenwood. He was also a speaker at the Midwest Conference Female & Ethnic Minority Mentoring Program.
Wiseman begins his duties at Benedictine this week.
