William Peace Athletics officially announced the hiring of Cedric Wilkerson as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach and Head Women’s Golf Coach on Tuesday, July 30th.
Wilkerson will assist new head coach Annalee Bollinger on the women’s basketball staff. He will also lead the first women’s golf team in school history as the program makes its debut in the 2025-26 season.
“We are excited to bring Coach Wilkerson aboard,” Athletic Director Claude Shields said. “It’s no easy task to build a program from the ground up, but his commitment and dedication on the recruiting trail really stand out. He will also be a huge asset to our women’s basketball program and help Coach Bollinger get us back to the top of the league!”
Wilkerson brings strong leadership and interpersonal skills to William Peace.He has extensive experience working with future collegiate athletes.
“I am so excited that Coach Wilkerson is joining the Pacer family,” Bollinger said. “Not only is he relationship oriented, but he goes above and beyond to help others reach their full potential. His knowledge and commitment will be an asset to our student-athletes. I am thankful to have him by my side for this next chapter and look forward to watching him grow.”
Wilkerson spent the 2023-24 season at Heritage High School as Head Junior Varsity Women’s Basketball Coach. Wilkerson led the Heritage Jayvees to a 17-2 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark, good enough for conference runner-up.
Prior to arriving at Heritage, Wilkerson was the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Wake Prep Academy from 2022 to 2023 and at Thales Academy Rolesville from 2018 to 2022. His professional career includes a stint as Athletic Director at East Millbrook Middle School where he oversaw 10 sports.
“I am excited to join Coach Bollinger and the women’s basketball staff as an assistant coach,” Wilkerson said. “I am also excited about the new journey of serving as the Head Women’s Golf Coach as well. My love for helping the next generation on and off the court has led me to this position. I’m grateful to Athletic Director Claude Shields for believing in me to serve these roles.”
A Forest City, N.C., native, Wilkerson graduated from Western Carolina with a Sport and Fitness Administration/Management degree in 2017. He gained his Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration at Concordia-Irvine in 2020.
