White Promoted to Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Salem State

Ashley White ’14 was promoted to head coach of the Salem State women’s basketball program after serving as interim head coach during the 2020-21 season. A former assistant coach for the Vikings, White impressed Athletic Director Nicolle Wood, who made the decision to offer the position permanently.

“Ashley has been a valuable asset to the women’s basketball team since her years as a student-athlete, and has grown in her leadership and skill set during her time as an assistant coach and interim head coach. We are excited to remove the interim tag from her title and look forward to the upcoming season.”. With the continued support of assistant coaches Ashlyn Babb and Tara Devlin, I am confident in the positive direction the program will go this year.”

White is a former three-year member of the Salem State basketball team. She was a two-year starter, leading the team in three-point field goal percentage and assists during her season senior. Prior to Salem State, White was an assistant at Salem High School.

“Thank you to athletic director Nicolle Wood and the administration for providing me with this opportunity. I am very excited to continue to be a part of Salem State University and build this program to compete at a high level, develop our student-athletes on and off the court and win the MASCAC. With the continued support from assistant coaches Ashelyne Babb and Tara Devlin, I am confident in the direction that this program will go.”

White graduated in 2014 with a degree in Sports and Movement Science and is currently a financial planner at Northwestern Mutual.
