Katie Girten, who has spent the past year as the head assistant women’s basketball coach at MiraCosta College, has been named an assistant coach with the Western Oregon women basketball program, head coach Holli Howard-Carpenter announced on Tuesday.

Girten joins the Wolves program after spending the past season as the top assistant coach at MiraCosta College in Oceanside, Calif. During her time with the Spartans, Girten held responsibilities in nearly all areas of the program, including helping with individual skill development, organizing practice sessions, analyzing game file, initiating fundraising opportunities and monitoring academic progress of the student-athletes.
