The Western Michigan women’s basketball team and head coach Kate Achter have announced the hiring of Audra Emmerson to the position of Assistant Coach.
Emmerson joins the Broncos after wrapping up her playing career at Purdue Fort Wayne this past season. Emmerson played four seasons with the Mastodons, seeing action in 133 games while starting in 91. She started and played in every game as a junior and senior. Emmerson was known for her shooting range, making 210 baskets from beyond the mark in her career.
“I truly believe it is my job to help position young women to find success and I love hiring people who have played at a high level and know what it takes to win games,” said Achter. “Audra’s hire is exactly that for us. She is proven winner, who truly understands the game and how we’d like to play here. Audra’s fresh off an excellent season at PFW and that experience will pay dividends as she connects with our younger players. We love the chip on her shoulder and know she is eager to pass her knowledge along.”
Emmerson was named to the 2023-24 Horizon League All-Academic Team, was a five-time Horizon League Academic Honor Roll member and was a three-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. She earned her degree in finance from PFW in May of 2025.
