West Texas A&M adds assistant

West Texas A&M head women’s basketball coach Mark Kellogg announced the addition of Camille Perkins as an assistant women’s basketball coach for the 2014-15 season.

"There is no doubt our Lady Buff basketball program just got better with the addition of Camille," Kellogg said. "She was a fantastic player in the LSC and has effortlessly transitioned to the sidelines as a coach. Camille is a tireless worker who will bring a great energy and enthusiasm into our program."

Perkins, was an all-conference player for the Angelo State Rambelles from 2008-2011, was a graduate assistant for the 2011-13 seasons and served as assistant coach for the Rambelles last season where she handled team travel, budgeting, scouting and film on opposing teams. She also handled duties related to recruiting, academic progress and strength and conditioning.

She finished her playing career at ASU as the second all-time leading scorer in program history and is the school-leader in free throws made (573) and attempts (749).

The Groesbeck, Texas, native, also is among the program’s top five in points per game, field goals made, three-pointers made, assists and steals. She averaged a career-high 17.2 points per game her senior season and was an All-Lone Star Conference South Division First Team selection for the fourth time in her career. As a freshman, she earned LSC Freshman of the Year honors in 2008.

Perkins earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned a master’s degree in education both from ASU.
