Weekend Dirt – 3/25/12

Here are a few things that I’ve heard over the weekend….

I’ve heard that Doug Porter has resigned as the head coach Olivet Nazarene (IL). Porter had amassed 277 wins at ONU since taking over in 1998, including a 27-5 record this season. There is no official word yet as to why he resigned, but I can confirm that he is definitely out.

The search to replace Bobbi Endress at DIII Augustana College (IL) is well underway, and getting closer to completion. From what I’ve heard, there were close to 170 applicants for the position. That was narrowed down to nine candidates who were interviewed by the search committee over the phone. That group has now been cut down to four or five who will be coming to campus for more formal interviews this week. I would expect an official announcement here in about two weeks.

It sounds like Napa Valley College has found a replacement for head coach Chris Kvidahl. I’ve heard that NVC men’s assistant Vincent Shaw will assume the role of head women’s coach. Last year was Shaw’s first at NVC – he has also been an assistant at Sonoma State, Solano College, and Santa Rosa Junior College.

I posted earlier today that Wake Forest assistant Natasha Adair will be the choice to replace Nancy Wilson at the College of Charleston. It looks like a member of Wilson’s staff has landed on her feet….from what I’ve heard, Kaye Waldrep will take over the program at Converse College (SC). She had spent the past four seasons as an assistant at C of C. The official announcement is expected this week.
