Vermont Technical College names Davon Miller as the VTC Women’s Basketball Coach. Miller will assume the position of Head Basketball Coach on October 1st.
“First of all, I want to thank the Vermont Tech Athletic Director Hilary Linehan and the entire committee for selecting me as their next head coach. Choosing me shows how much confidence and belief they have in me to lead the women’s basketball team in a positive direction,” said Miller.
Immediately before coming to Vermont Tech College, Miller served two seasons as the associate head coach at Wright State University-Lake Campus in Celina, Ohio. During that span, the team tripled their wins and was ranked 27th in the nation in the final United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Poll, an improvement from 45th. WSU-LC finished 2nd in steals and blocks, 5th in the nation in rebounds. The Lake Campus basketball team doubled their wins from the previous season and produced three national top ten players and three academic all Americans.
Athletic Director, Hilary Linehan, said: “We are very excited to have Davon become a part of the strong basketball tradition here at Vermont Tech. I am confident that Davon will have an immediate impact on the culture and improvement of our women’s basketball program within the first year, and hopefully for many more years as well.”
Davon Miller is a 2010 graduate of Loyola University Chicago with an MBA in Human Resource Management. Miller is a father of three outstanding student-athletes. All are playing college basketball.
In 18 seasons as a head basketball coach, Davon Miller has transformed numerous basketball programs into elite contenders. With an average of 25 victories per season, 25 state and national championships, and 44 college scholarship awarded. First on the all-time wins list for the Tidewater Youth Organization, (TYO) Boys’ basketball program, boasting 131 wins as head coach, Miller has transformed the boy’s program into a regional powerhouse since his hiring in July of 2013.
Miller proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy. With tours in Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has built strong leadership and organizational skills. He stands ready for the challenge to develop your basketball program and serve your student-athletes.
