Vande Hoef resigns as Head Coach at Lakeland College

Lindsey Vande Hoef has resigned as Lakeland College head women’s basketball coach, Lakeland Interim Director of Athletics April Arvan announced today.

Vande Hoef has been named the head women’s basketball coach at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She is returning to the school where she was an assistant coach at from 2008-12 before coming to Lakeland.

“We are grateful for Coach Vande’s hard work serving our women’s basketball program, our student-athletes, and our institution as a whole,” said Arvan. “We are excited for her opportunity to return to Iowa Western, and we wish her well in all of her endeavors.”

Vande Hoef compiled a 49-54 record in four years at Lakeland, ranking her fifth all-time in program history for wins. Her teams reached the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament three times and she coached six all-conference players, including a pair of first team all-NACC performers. Vande Hoef’s best team at Lakeland was her first team, when she made a strong debut and led the Muskies to an 18-8 record, tying for second in the NACC North Division.

“I am very thankful for my four years at Lakeland,” said Vande Hoef. “Lakeland provided me with the opportunity to lead a great program and I am grateful for the support Coach Arvan and President Dan Eck have given me and my family. Lakeland will always be a place that I love and hold a special place in my heart for.

“I am so proud of the current and former players that I had the opportunity to coach during my time here at Lakeland. I thank them for their tremendous hard work, passion and dedication to being a student-athlete. I also want to thank the entire Muskie family for all the support they gave me during my time here.”

Vande Hoef will return to Iowa Western, where she was an assistant coach at the junior college level and was part of teams that posted an 89-36 record in her four years there. The Reivers are a member of National Junior College Athletic Association Division I, and the program has sent numerous players to the NCAA Division I level.

This past season under Vande Hoef, Lakeland finished 10-16 overall and 9-11 in the NACC. The Muskies finished seventh in the NACC and advanced to the conference tournament, falling in the quarterfinals to No. 2 seed Benedictine.
