University of Hawai’i Hires Assistant

University of Hawai’i women’s basketball coach Laura Beeman announced the hiring of assistant coach Wendy Anae. It is a homecoming for coach Anae, who was born and raised on O’ahu’s North Shore.

Anae returns to Hawai’i after serving as the director of basketball operations for BYU’s women’s basketball team since 2010 in Provo, Utah. During that span, the Cougars compiled three straight 20-plus win seasons and advanced to the postseason in each year. BYU won one regular season league crown (Mountain West Conference, 2011) and one championship title (West Coast Conference, 2012). Last season, the team finished tied for third in the WCC regular season and once again competed in postseason action. The Cougars advanced to the third round of the postseason WNIT with wins over Idaho State and San Diego State, before falling to league foe, Saint Mary’s.
