University of Jamestown head women’s basketball coach Greg Ulland has resigned, effective immediately, to become UJ’s Vice President of Enrollment Management, President Polly Peterson announced Tuesday.
In today’s announcement, Dr. Peterson stated, “Greg is a person who demonstrates passion and commitment in everything he does. He has achieved tremendous success as a coach, recruiter, and member of the faculty and is committed to the vision of our University. I am confident in Greg’s leadership and look forward to working with him as a member of our administrative team as we strive to make the University of Jamestown the best career oriented liberal arts university in the Midwest.”
Ulland compiled a record of 215-46 in eight seasons as head coach of the Jimmies. His winning percentage of .824 is the best in UJ history and his 215 wins are second only to Lawrie Paulson’s 276. Jamestown qualified for the NAIA Division II National Tournament in seven of Ulland’s eight seasons, and reached the national quarterfinals three of the last four years. The Jimmies won five straight North Star Athletic Association regular season conference championships before leaving for the Great Plains Athletic Conference July 1.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in this expanded role,” said Ulland. “I look forward to sharing my love and passion for the University of Jamestown with current and future Jimmies.”
University of Jamestown Athletic Director Sean Johnson will be working to ensure a smooth transition for the women’s basketball team. A search for Ulland’s replacement is currently underway.
