UIS Athletic Director Kim Pate is pleased to announce Chad Oletzke as the new Head Women’s basketball Coach at Illinois Springfield replacing visiting head coach Marne Fauser. Chad Oletzke is a veteran women’s basketball coach with 15 years of coaching experience. Over his career, he has developed championship caliber programs which garnered eight separate championship titles and earned five NCAA tournament bids.
Oletzke comes to UIS after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at South Dakota State University where he helped guide the program to a Summit League regular season Championship, three straight Summit League Tournament Championships and three consecutive berths in the NCAA Tournament. During his time at SDSU, Oletzke served as the scouting coordinator, director of player development and assisted with all other aspects of the program. During his time, he coached two All-Summit League players and one Summit League Tournament MVP.
Oletzke served as head women’s basketball coach at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming for five seasons. During his tenure with the NJCAA Division 1 program, Oletzke earned coach of the year honors after leading the Trappers to a Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference championship and a North Sub-Region Championship title. During his time he coached two All-Region IX Players, six All-Conference Players, and three Region IX All-Tournament players.
Oletzke began coaching at the collegiate level at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, serving as an assistant women’s basketball coach for four years. While with the Mustangs, SMSU posted three 20-win seasons, garnered two Northern Sun Conference Championships, and made two NCAA?Division II postseason appearances. He also coached boys’ basketball at Wabasso (Minn.) High School winning a Tomahawk Conference Championship prior to coaching at SMSU.
