Tullis named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Dennison

Denison University’s first-year Head Women’s Basketball Coach Maureen Hirt has announced the hiring of Griffin Tullis as the new assistant women’s basketball coach.

Tullis is a graduate of Kenyon College who earned her Bachelor of Arts in political science in 2018 and is making a career switch to the coaching world after working in healthcare. She earned her Master of Health Administration from the University of South Carolina in 2021 and most recently worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, as a quality outreach coordinator.

“I am very excited to have Griffin Tullis joining our Denison women’s basketball program and our greater Denison community,” said Hirt. “As a former student-athlete in the NCAC, she will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. Griffin has a relentless work ethic, attention to detail, and passion for the game that will be such an asset to our program. I’m really looking forward to working with her.”

A three-time team captain and four-year starter for the Kenyon women’s basketball team, Tullis is sixth all-time in career blocks at Kenyon and was awarded as the Lady of the Year in the Spring of 2018, which recognizes an outstanding player who demonstrates teamwork, athletic skill, and academic achievement. At the University of South Carolina, she received the AUPHA McGaw Scholarship for outstanding academic performance.

Tullis is a Columbus, Ohio, native who graduated from Dublin Coffman High School. Her senior year at Dublin Coffman, they made the Ohio State High School Association’s Final Four, which was the only time in the school’s history.

“I am extremely excited to be an assistant coach here at Denison and to have the opportunity to work at an institution that values academics and athletics,” spoke Tullis. “I am really looking forward to working with Coach Mo and know she will do amazing things for the players and program.
