Trujillo out at Texas A&M-Kingsville

Texas A&M-Kingsville Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Campus Recreation Scott Gines announced that Javelina women’s head basketball coach Mike Trujillo’s contract will not be renewed.

Trujillo recently completed his third season at the helm of the Texas A&M University-Kingsville women’s basketball program, guiding the Javelinas a 6th-place finish and a trip to the Lone Star Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament for the first time since the 2009-10 campaign. The 2013-14 squad finished with an 11-16 record and 6-10 conference mark, while leading the LSC in steals per game and turnover margin.

In three seasons, Trujillo, the 12th head coach in program history, posted a 3-year overall record of 25-54 in his first head coaching post. Trujillo previously served as an assistant coach at Texas State, Northern Arizona, and Sam Houston State Universities.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
