Presbyterian College and head women’s basketball coach Alaura Sharp announced the addition of Caleb Thomas to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
“It is a great day to announce Caleb to our staff. He comes highly recommended by everyone he has worked with. His passion for teaching and learning is exemplary. His experience being a college player, practice player and graduate assistant will be really valuable to our team,” commented coach Sharp.
“He understands what it takes to be a successful ball handling guard which will be a great addition to our point guards and combo guards. I am really excited to work with him and welcome his impact to our great program,” added Sharp.
Thomas spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Louisiana Tech spending time on video/film evaluation along with scouting reports and recruiting. He spent time as a player development assistant as he constructed individual guard workouts based on personnel and offensive scheme.
He also spent time working with daily practice facility prep along with game-day operations. Thomas was a key component in both official and unofficial visits to campus helping to facilitate for the Louisiana Tech program. He also had a hand in helping prepare social media content for various accounts. On the court, Thomas was a part of the 2021-22 West Division Champions at Louisiana Tech and the program also totaled the most league wins in program history. He finished his graduate studies with a Master’s in Health Informatics (MHI) at Louisiana Tech this past year.
“I’m honored for the opportunity to join Coach Sharp and her staff this upcoming season. Coach Sharp is an admirable leader with a preceding reputation for hard work. She takes pride in being a part of the Presbyterian culture and invests wholeheartedly in the players. I’m thrilled to join a staff that is hungry and passionate about achieving Coach Sharp’s vision for the program. It is a blessing to call Clinton my new home and Presbyterian my new family,” commented Caleb Thomas.
Prior to his time in Ruston, he attended Carroll University where he studied healthcare administration and was also a member of the basketball team as a combo guard for the Pioneers. Off the court, he was an admissions ambassador, dean list scholar, and mentorship liaison. He then returned home to Louisiana and finished undergrad at Louisiana Tech University and received his bachelors in Health Informatics.
