Thigpin Steps Down as Head Coach at Dixie State

Dixie State University Director of Athletics Dr. Jason Boothe announced Wednesday that Jenny Thigpin has stepped down from her position as head women’s basketball coach.

Thigpin joined the DSU women’s basketball program as an assistant coach in 2013. She was named the interim head coach prior to the start of the 2014-15 season and was promoted to DSU’s permanent head coach on January 22, 2015. Over her two seasons on the Red Storm sideline Thigpin compiled a 17-35 overall record, including a 16-24 mark in Pacific West Conference play.

“We thank Jenny for stepping up and leading our program for the past two seasons,” Dr. Boothe said. “We appreciate her efforts on behalf our student-athletes and we wish her the best in the future.”

Prior to her arrival at DSU, Thigpin served as an assistant coach for two seasons at PacWest member Fresno Pacific, which followed a four-year stint, including three years as head coach, at Buchanan High School in Clovis, Calif. As head coach at Buchanan in 2009-10, she led the team to a 22-7 record (the most wins in school history), and reached the final four of the Central Section playoffs. In addition to three years of head coaching experience at Buchanan, Thigpin was the head coach and program director for the Hanford Heat AAU team for eight years.

A national search for Dixie State’s new women’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
