Former Keystone College Head Women’s Basketball Coach Katie Tetzlaw has been hired as assistant coach at Slippery Rock University, Rock head coach Tanya Longo announced.
Tetzlaw joined The Rock staff after serving two seasons as head coach at Keystone, an NCAA Division III institution located in La Plume in northeastern Pennsylvania. The Giants had a 16-34 record under her guidance, culminating with wins in each of their last five games in the 2001-12 season.
A 2004 graduate of Bethany College, Tetzlaw was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter for the Bison. She was a member of three Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship teams and participated in three NCAA Division III tournaments. Tetzlaw earned a Master of Science degree in sports management from California University of Pennsylvania in 2009.
Upon completion of her playing career at Bethany, Tetzlaw served one season as graduate assistant for the Bison, two seasons as an assistant coach at Allegheny College and three seasons as an assistant coach at Washington & Jefferson College.
Tetzlaw helped Allegheny compile a 37-17 record during her stint on the Gators’ staff and, as an assistant coach under Jina DeRubbo, who she had played at Bethany, helped Washington & Jefferson College compile a 47-10 record, capped off by a school-record 24 wins in 2008-09.
Tetzlaw replaced Jeff Crouse as Longo’s top assistant at SRU. Crouse stepped down last summer after serving two seasons on The Rock staff.
