Texas State women’s basketball coach Zenarae Antoine has announced the hiring of Jericka Jenkins as the program’s new graduate assistant for the 2018-19 season.
Jenkins joins the Bobcat coaching staff after playing four seasons at Hampton University (2008-12). She arrives in San Marcos with one season of coaching experience.
“We are fortunate to have a graduate assistant of Jericka’s caliber join our staff,” Antoine said. “As a student-athlete she was stellar in the classroom and on the court. Her value to our program extends beyond those factors. She has worked in the corporate landscape and more recently was a collegiate assistant coach who held a variety of positions.”
Jenkins will serve as the graduate assistant for the team and will also assist with social media, gameday operations, film exchange and operations and coordination of managers and male practice players. She will also aid in the production of the monthly newsletter and the ball girl program.
Prior to TXST, Jenkins served as an assistant coach for Ranger College. Her primary duties included recruiting, guard development, academic achievement and strength and conditioning.
As a player, Jenkins started all four seasons for the Hampton Lady Pirates and was twice named a First Team All-MEAC performer. Jenkins earned Associated Press Honorable Mention All-America honors following the 2010-11 campaign and was named Hampton University Female Student-Athlete of the Year after each of her final two seasons as a Lady Pirate. During her final collegiate season, Jenkins was nominated for the Senior CLASS Award, an acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. She ended her career seventh in program history with 1,385 career points and second in career assists with 620. Jenkins was one of two Pirates to ever eclipse 1,000 career points and 500 career assists.
She graduated from Hampton with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology/criminal justice in May 2012.
