Tennessee State Women’s Basketball Coach takes leave

Tennessee State head women’s basketball coach Jessica Kern has announced through Twitter that she is taking a temporary leave from her position. She posted the following to her personal account:

“After speaking with my family & continuous prayer, I am choosing to take a temporary cessation of work to focus on my health. My life’s mission is, and continues to be, empowering young people to live beyond their wildest dreams. Thank you for respecting my privacy & family’s decision. May God continue to bless those that live to serve and those I am blessed to influence daily.”

Kern has been the head coach at TSU since 2017. She has also been the head coach at Mississippi Valley State and Lincoln University (PA). The Tigers have gone 11-46 over Kerns first two full years and are currently 1-6 this season.
