Sundberg Named Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach at Mansfield University

Mansfield University women’s basketball head coach Michael Whitling has named former Gannon University standout Kelley Sundberg as his assistant coach.

“I am really excited to have Kelley join the program” said Whitling. “Kelley will do an amazing job and brings a wealth of playing experience and knowledge of the PSAC to our program.”

Sundberg started 107 games at point guard in four seasons at Gannon, including every game during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. She was a three-time All-PSAC West selection and helped the Golden Knights to three NCAA Tournament berths including the NCAA Atlantic Regional title in 2013 to advance to the Elite Eight. She ranks fifth on the Gannon all-time assists list with 574 and 10th in free throw percentage at 76.8%.

With no prior experience, Sundberg played a season of lacrosse in her fifth year at Gannon where she started at midfield and scored 21 goals.

The Mansfield, Conn. native earned her B.S. in Exercise Science from Gannon in 2014 before completing her Masters in Nutrition and Exercise Sciences from the University of Tampa this summer.

Sundberg served as a personal trainer/group fitness instructor and a corporate wellness coach prior to joining the Mountaineers. She also has coaching experience at Gannon basketball camps.
