Stony Brook Associate Head Women’s Basketball Coach Dan Rickard has departed the Seawolves staff and has been named as an assistant men’s coach NYU.
Rickard completed his second season as the Associate Head Coach for the Stony Brook women’s basketball team in 2017-18, after spending 11 seasons on the Stony Brook men’s basketball coaching staff.
At NYU, Rickard will serve as the top assistant and defensive coordinator, while also assisting with recruiting, game preparation and on-floor instruction.
Rickard had been at Stony Brook for more than a decade, having played for the Seawolves from 2002-04. He appeared in 14 games over two seasons and helped the Seawolves reach the America East Championship semifinals in 2004, the furthest the program had advanced in the tournament at that time. Rickard graduated from Stony Brook in May 2004 with his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. He went on to earn his Master of Arts in Liberal Studies in 2006 while serving as the men’s basketball graduate assistant.
