Stanley promoted to Assistant Director of WBB Operations/Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Tennessee

Maggie Stanley, who served as a graduate assistant for the Tennessee program during the 2024-25 season, has been named assistant director of women’s basketball operations/special assistant to the head coach, Lady Vol skipper Kim Caldwell announced.

Stanley, who joined UT Athletics in July of 2024, fills a vacancy created when Haley Hall departed for another position after two years with the Lady Vols.

After spending six seasons working with the women’s basketball program at Marshall, including a role as director of basketball operations from 2022-24, Stanley made the move to Rocky Top when Caldwell was named head coach here. Stanley was instrumental in MU’s 2023-24 Sun Belt Conference Championship season, navigating the logistics of qualifying for the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in more than 25 years.

Beginning her journey with the Marshall women’s basketball team in 2018 as a student manager, Stanley was soon named head manager and supervised three other student managers. She engaged in limited on-court activities and operated the clock during practices. Stanley assisted with gameday preparation for home and away games and helped handle logistics on the road. Stanley ensured that laundry was done for both the team and the coaching staff, and she also assisted the director of operations with camps, fundraising and other day-to-day functions.

Stanley had many duties during her two seasons as a graduate assistant at Marshall from 2020-22. She oversaw ordering and distribution of equipment and gear for the entire program and assisted the director of operations with day-to-day tasks and helped with travel logistics and coordination of meals. She also oversaw the budgeting for equipment, recruiting and meals as well as the academic team for the student-athletes. Stanley engaged in on-court activities and created graphics for social media and recruiting. She also recorded statistics and provided analysis with the coaching staff.

Stanley graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport management from Marshall in 2020, earned a master’s degree in sports administration from the school in 2022 and began work on a master’s at Tennessee in fall 2024.
