Special Jennings Joins Jaguars

With Special Jennings, GRU Augusta women’s basketball head coach Nate Teymer has gained an assistant coach with immense knowledge of the game through her playing career at Xavier and during her time as a director and instructor at Point Guard College Basketball.

Jennings replaces former assistant coach Courtney Boyd, who spent two years as Teymer’s top aide before taking the head women’s basketball coaching job at AIB College of Business in Des Moines, Iowa.

"Our basketball family is very fortunate to have Special Jennings on our staff," Teymer said. "She is a rising star in the coaching profession and Special will bring a great deal of energy and passion to the game of basketball that will be very contagious. I am really excited about having Coach Jennings joining our staff."

Jennings spent the 2013-14 season as the administrative assistant to the women’s basketball program at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. The Raiders went 26-9 last year and posted a 12-4 mark in the Horizon league, while reaching the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Lexington, Ken. Jennings handled all video aspects for the Wright State women’s basketball program and managed and coordinated all practices. Prior to her one-year stint at WSU, Jennings competed overseas with FIBA Europe, after she ended her stellar career at Xavier from 2007-2011.

As a Musketeer guard, Jennings competed in 131 career games and earned 115 consecutive starts. She tied for fourth on Xavier’s all-time assists list with 515 and sits fifth all-time for free throw percentage (.773). Jennings earned All-Atlantic 10 second team honors following the 2009-10 season and third team honors in 2010-11, reaching three Atlantic 10 Tournament Championships in her four years and making 15 3-point field goals during those contests. Aside from Xavier, Jennings also served as Director of Basketball at TheSphere and as an instructor with PGC Basketball in 2011.
