We’re very fortunate to have him in our program and he’s earned the title of Associate Head Coach,” Guzzardo said. “KJ is smart, hardworking and – above all else – loyal. He sees the value in what we’re building at SLU and will be play a huge role in executing the vision we’ve laid out for our program. Stability in my coaching staff is very important to me and I’m excited about having KJ with us as we continue to work towards a Southland Conference championship.
Lee shares Guzzardo’s enthusiasm for the future of the program.
“The Southeastern women’s basketball program is headed in the right direction as a program and I’m excited to be a part of a bright future,” Lee commented. “Ayla’s a great leader for our program and I’m humbled and thankful for the faith she shows in me. It’s a dream come true to be able to coach and I’m blessed to be able to continue my dreams at SLU.”
Southeastern has steadily increased its win total in Lee and Guzzardo’s two seasons with the Lady Lions. Prior to joining the staff, Lee spent the 2015-16 season as the head girls’ coach at Brusly High School. In his first season at BHS, he coached a pair of All-District performers and helped his team earn a spot in the Class 3A playoffs.
Prior to his time at Brusly, Lee spent two years as an assistant coach at Ponchatoula High School. In 2014-15, Lee was part of a staff that coached the Green Wave to the Class 5A state championship. Lee started his high school coaching career as an assistant coach at Dutchtown High School in Geismar, Louisiana.
Lee also has been the head coach for the Louisiana Lady Select Girls Basketball AAU team. Over 30 players out of his AAU program went on to sign with Division I institutions.
Lee earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2013 from Nicholls, where he was a guard on the basketball team for three seasons.
