Dakota College at Bottineau Athletic Director Carolyn Rygg announced Thursday that Nate Simpson has been selected to be the next Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
Simpson currently serves as the assistant girls’ basketball coach for Bottineau High School. Last season Simpson helped guide the Stars to a Region 3 Championship and their first trip to the State Tournament in 16 years. The Stars are currently 8-2 this season. Simpson had a previous stint as the head boys’ basketball coach at Bottineau High School as well as the head boys’ golf coach.
Coach Simpson will begin recruiting immediately. While Wayne Johnson finishes out coaching duties for the remainder of the season. “We are very excited to have Nate join our athletic department and take over our women’s basketball program,” said Rygg.
The Jacks are currently 7-7 overall and 0-1 in Mon-Dak play. Their next game is Sunday on the road against Lake Region State College game time is set for 1:00pm.
