Ohio State women’s basketball head coach Kevin McGuff announced on Friday the addition of Simon Harris to his coaching staff.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Simon to the Ohio State Women’s Basketball family,” said McGuff. “He is a relentless recruiter, skilled coach, and proven winner. Most importantly his commitment to supporting the growth and development of our student athletes will allow him to make a significant impact on our program.”

Harris spent the last two seasons at his alma mater, NC State, and was part of two of the most successful teams in program history. He helped the Wolfpack to a 28-4 mark in 2019-20 which included winning the 2020 ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament. In his two seasons, NC State finished the year ranked inside the top-10 each year and he helped the team to a total of 56 victories.

He is no stranger to Ohio as he spent seven years at the University of Dayton, working four years on the women’s basketball staff and three seasons on the men’s staff under head coach Archie Miller. While with the women’s program, Harris helped lead the Flyers to three NCAA Tournament appearances, one Elite Eight appearance (2015), four total postseason berths and a combined 87-39 record.

Harris played at NC State in 2007-08 and 2008-09 and earned his undergraduate degree in sociology in 2008. He replaces Carrie Banks on the OSU staff who left this spring to become the head coach at Nebraska Omaha.
