Sileo named Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach at Marietta College

Marietta College head women’s basketball coach Kole Vivian announced the hiring of Kayla Sileo as his top assistant Friday (June 17) afternoon. Sileo assumes Vivian’s previous position as he was recently elevated to head coach.

“I am thrilled to be the new assistant coach of the Marietta College women’s basketball program,” Sileo said. “I have to thank my family, Coach Vivian and the athletic department for allowing me this outstanding opportunity. Marietta has a great foundation that has been laid by Coach Vivian and the previous staff, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of building upon their successes and helping the Pioneers achieve the goal of winning a conference championship.”

Sileo comes to Marietta after spending three years at Lackawanna College, a two-year institution in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After two seasons as an assistant coach, Sileo was promoted to head coach for the 2015-16 season and led the Falcons to an 18-7 record.

“I couldn’t be more excited to add Kayla to our staff,” Vivian said. “Once we got her on campus, it was clear to everyone that she is a person with a great passion for basketball and will be able to help our team in a number of ways. Kayla will be a valuable resource to our program and she will contribute to our rising success.”

Sileo, who has a degree in Healthcare Management and a minor in Marketing, graduated from Misericordia University in 2013. She was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team and helped the Cougars to the MAC Freedom Division Championship and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament her junior year.
