Shepherd U. coach resigns

Shepherd University director of athletics B. J. Pumroy announced today that the university has begun a national search for a new head women’s basketball coach. The position will be filled as quickly as possible.

The university has decided against renewing the contract of former coach Antoinette (Toni) West. West served as head coach for the Rams for the 2013-14 season after having two stints as an assistant for the Rams. Shepherd had 4-23 overall record with a 4-18 conference mark this past season. West had head coaching stints at California State University East Bay and Las Positas College. She previously served as an assistant for numerous NCAA Division II and junior college programs.

The university will not make any additional public statements about the head coach position until the position is filled.
