West Liberty University head women’s basketball coach Kyle Cooper has welcomed Cassie Seth to his staff as an assistant coach with the Lady Hilltoppers.
“I have always believed that you win with people in this game,” Cooper said, “and Coach Seth is a winner. Coming from the same home town, I have known Cassie for more than a decade. My level of respect for her as an outstanding coach and better person knows no bounds.
“Cassie’s experience as a successful head coach at the high school level and her playing background at the collegiate level give her instant credibility with our student-athletes. I have no doubt she will be a key element in the success of our program moving forward.”
Seth spent seven years as a high school head coach in the Cleveland area, spending two seasons at Medina Highland High School before a five-year stint at Parma High School. Seth led Medina Highland to its first-ever OHSAA Division I tournament win and was the first coach in more than two decades to post double-digit wins in consecutive seasons at Parma.
During her time as a high school coach, Seth developed 32 all-conference players, five all-district selections and one conference player of the year. She was chosen to coach in the 2010 Medina County All-Star Game and the 2016 Greater Cleveland Basketball Coaches Association (GCBCA) All-Star Game.
The Waterford, Pa. native entered the collegiate coaching ranks last season as an assistant at NCAA Division III Baldwin-Wallace University. Working for Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame head coach Cheri Harrer, Seth helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a sparkling 21-5 season and a runner-up finish in the highly-competitive Ohio Athletic Conference.
“I am extremely humbled to join Coach Cooper and the WLU basketball family,” Seth said. “West Liberty is one of the premier NCAA Division II women’s basketball programs in the nation. The tradition of Lady Hilltopper basketball is second to none and I could not be more excited to help build on that.”
Seth was a four-year standout and 1,000-point scorer during her playing days at Mercyhurst (Pa.) University. A three-year captain and All-GLIAC honoree with the Lakers, she finished her career ranked among Mercyhurst’s Top 10 all-time in points and steals. Just as successful in the classroom, Seth was a two-time Dean’s List student and earned a spot on the GLIAC’s All-Academic Team.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Sport Business Management from Mercyhurst along with a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Valparaiso (Ind.) University. Seth is also certified as an International Strength Training Association (ITSA) personal trainer and dotFIT fitness professional.
