Schoffstall Named LVC W. Basketball Assistant Coach

Lebanon Valley College Women’s Basketball coach Diane Decker announced the addition of Abby Schoffstall as an assistant coach for the Flying Dutchmen this season. Schoffstall played basketball under Decker at East Stroudsburg University and graduated this past spring.

“I built a great relationship with her during our time together,” said Schoffstall. “She was very instrumental in helping me become the player and person I am today. I am very grateful for the opportunity she has given me to come to LVC and coach alongside of her.”

As a four-year member of the East Stroudsburg team, Schoffstall played guard on the 2019-20 squad that set school records for most overall wins (20) and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victories with 15. Off the court, she was recognized as a PSAC Scholar-Athlete. She earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.

Going back to her high school career at Minersville, Schoffstall led the team to an undefeated 31-0 season and the PIAA State Championship as a senior. A two-time All-State selection, she sits atop the Minersville charts as the career leader in assists (863) and steals (454) and finished with 1,540 career points. Overall, during her playing years, Minersville won four district championships and three league titles.

Now, as she makes the transition from player to coach, Schoffstall said she looks forward to working with the LVC student-athletes. “I am excited to get to know our team more and put them in the best position to have a great career here at LVC, both academically and athletically. I just hope to have the same impact on my players as my coaches had on me.”

The Flying Dutchmen are set to begin their 2021-22 season on Friday, Nov. 6 at Marywood University.
